Meditating on the wonders of the new heaven and earth – the inheritance of the true believers and as glorious, as satisfying and as amazingly incomprehensible as this seems, can’t help but think of the other side.
The other side of those who will be cast into that terrible side,
(Mark 9:48)“where ‘the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched’”
Believer, imagine you in heaven enjoying the eternal weight of glory promised you at last, only to have a glimpse of the multitude that will forever burn in hell with some claiming that they never knew.
There is no pain in heaven but (do not take this as doctrine), I, the writer, believe that there will be regret in heaven for every opportunity we failed to share the gospel of Christ to those who will perish eternally, especially when we see familiar faces of the ones we claimed to ‘love’ on earth.
Shielding them from the truth of the gospel is the highest form of wicked hatred and no love. Seeking political correctness and acceptance by majority is cowardice and but for the grace of God, you yourself deserve a space in the lake of fire (Revelation 21:8).
Is your lethargy due to fear or shame? “If we deny Him, He will deny us’.
Unbeliever, why refuse this – this free gift of life? It is free. It is a gift. There’s nothing to do but come. See the repeated plea to you:
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life”
(Revelation 22:17)
Come is all you are asked to do. How wonderful it would have been if we had no choice in this but God in His humility gives us the grace of choice.
How long will you run?
Will you claim at that point when choice seizes and you’re at your eternal destination, ‘I never knew’? Ignorance is no excuse. The verdict of the great Judge will not be overturned.
You have everything but time.
“Seek the Lord while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the Lord, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon”
(Isaiah 55:6-7).
He is near now whilst you have breath in your mortal body but when eternity comes, the chasm separating you in hell from the God of heaven will be too far apart with no hope of reach.
Have mercy, Lord. Open our eyes, as we open our mouths, please fill it with Your words for without You, we can do nothing.
You saved we unworthy creatures and the least we can ever do is to share this testimony and extend the same opportunity to as many are lost.
May the difference begin today and with me.
